Apes get iPads at US National Zoo
NEW YORK: Orangutans at a US National Zoohave been given iPads and are now using 10 different musical, drawing and gaming apps to keep occupied.
"It's about changing up the day-to-day lives of our animals," Becky Malinsky, a keeper at the Smithsonian's National Zoo, said.
"We already vary their food, toys and social interactions every day, but the iPad offers another way to engage their sight, touch and hearing," Malinsky said.

Saudi teen hides on wedding night to avoid 90-year-old 'husband'
LONDON: A 90-year-old Saudi Arabian is suing his 15-year-old child-bride's family because she hid herself in the bedroom on their wedding night.
The terrified teen locked the door from the inside so that her new husband could not enter on their first night as a married couple. Two days later she fled back to her parents' home, Daily Mail reported.
The elderly man now wants his money back as he claims he paid the parents 10,767 pounds (about $17,500) for the teenager for the marriage.
According to Al Arabiya TV channel, the man said he paid the dowry to the young girl's Saudi mother and Yemeni father, making the marriage "legal and correct".

Woman discovers that her husband was actually her father
NEW YORK: In a shocker, a 60-year-old US woman has discovered that her late husband was in fact her father, after an uncle told her the truth.
Valerie Spruill of Doylestown, Ohio learned of her husband's identity six years after he passed away in 1998 thanks to an uncle who eventually came forward with the truth.
She is now going public with her past with the hope that it will inspire those going through a rough time, the 'New York Daily News' reported.
"I want this to be more of an inspirational story," the 60-year-old told the newspaper. "If I've come through this, anyone can come through anything through the help of the Lord."
Spruill's mother and father, Percy Spruill, first started seeing each other when he was 15. It remains unclear how many children they had together, though Valerie says she is aware of six brothers.
